Vern’s No Frills 5k – Race #53

Vern’s No Frills 5K is just what it sounds like… a 5k with no frills and a price to match!  Free to students K-12 and $1 for adults.  Very walker and stroller friendly course and boasts a 15:52 course record.

What will you get?  The same CERTIFIED course every month that is timed.  Water stop on the course and water and Gatorade after the race.  Results posted.  A fast course that is 3 miles of paved trail and 0.1 miles of cinders.   Only 3 turns on the course!!  Lots of first time runners and lots of personal best times!!

The race is every 3rd Saturday of the month at 8am.
At the end of the year, minus any costs, the money will be given to the Williamson County Parks & Recreation.

2nd Annual Brain Power 5k

The Brain Power 5K is a timed 5K and Fun Run/Walk with a Kids’ K on September 9th, 2012. This event gives the Central Texas community an opportunity to increase brain cancer awareness and support brain cancer research. Proceeds from the event benefit the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Foundation also supports pediatric initiatives at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

The race will take place in scenic Williamson County Regional Park, just northwest of Austin. Brain Power 5K will be run on a two loop; traffic free and UST&F certified course (TX10036ETM.) This route is flat, stroller friendly and will offer one water stop. The day will begin with a Kid’s K at 8am inside the stadium track where the 5K will start and finish and the post-race celebration will occur. There will be age group awards given out on race day and Kid’s K participants will receive a medal. After the race, join in a celebration in the park with generous sponsors offering delicious food and drinks to all. If you are a brain tumor survivor or have one in your life, invite them as they will be honored as special guests of the day. Please contact race organizers with names of survivors or those who have battled a tumor that you wish to recognize.

5K participants are $25 online and will include a race packet and t-shirt. T-shirts are guaranteed for entries received by August 26th, after that while supplies last. Online registration ends Thursday, September 6th. Entry fee increases to $30 on September 3rd and to $35 on race day, September 9th (6:45am-7:45am). All Georgetown and Austin Running Club members receive a $1 discount.

Kid’s K
Registration for kids 12 and under is $12 and will cover their entry for the Kid’s K and the 5K. T-shirts are guaranteed for entries received by August 26th, after that while supplies last. Online registration ends Thursday, September 6th. Parent or guardian permission is required. Kid’s K Participants will receive a medal at the Kid’s K finish. The Kid’s K starts at 8:00am (prior to the start of the 5k).

8th Annual RRISD Project Graduation 5K & Kids' K

The Project Graduation 5K is a fundraiser to benefit all four Round Rock high schools and their graduating seniors.  Race morning will feature a chip timed 5K run/walk with 5 year age group awards, Kids’ K, sponsor booths, and tons of fun!  Paved two loop course!  Challenge your family, friends, and classmates to come out and compete for a good cause.

The Round Rock Express is hosting the 5k at the Dell Diamond.  The day will be full of special activities in and around Dell Diamond, so plan on staying around after the race for family fun events.

Project Graduation is an all-night lock in party held the night of graduation, so seniors have a safe place to celebrate and be with friends.  Proceeds from the race will be split between the participating Project Graduation committees from Round Rock, McNeil, Stony Point and Westwood High Schools.

Brain Power 5k

Keep Austin Aware presents the Brain Power 5K & Kids K to benefit the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation for Brain Cancer Research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Capital of Texas Team Survivor (CTTS).  CTTS offers exercise & wellness programs to women in the Austin area, free of charge to their members, to help women regain a normal life during and after cancer treatment.

Race morning will feature a timed 5K run/walk with age group awards, sponsor booths, and tons of fun!  Paved course!  Stroller and walker friendly!  Challenge your family, friends, and classmates to come out and compete for a good cause.  We encourage carpooling to save natural resources.

Kids K is free and donations are appreciated.  Registration for Kids K will only be at packet pick-up and on race day.  Please email kelly@keepaustinaware.com if you would like a guaranteed race shirt for your child by 8/28 (only child size L available).  Parent or guardian signature required.  Participants will receive a participation ribbon.  Kids K starts at 10:15am.
